Approach to Learning
1. Evidence-Based
The course includes pop-up questions that check for understanding throughout the lesson. These frequent knowledge checks are designed to ensure long-term comprehension and success on the final exam.
3. Main Instructor
The app utilizes a character (a robot) as a main instructor. This is based on studies showing that students are more likely to stay focused and engaged when they are guided through the material by a consistent instructional figure.

Still have questions? Contact usIn Texas, you can begin a driver's education course at age 14. You can apply for a learner's permit at 15 after completing driver's ed. With a learner's permit, you can practice driving with a licensed adult. You can take the road test and get your full license at 16 after completing all required hours.
Yes. Drive Safe Driving School is fully licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), License #C2759. All our courses — Teen Driver's Ed, Adult Driver's Ed, and Defensive Driving — are TDLR and DPS approved.
As a DPS-authorized third-party testing provider, Drive Safe offers road tests without the long DPS office wait times. We provide the car, the test route practice, and the examiner — you just show up and drive. Spots fill fast, so book early.
Book your road test →Yes. Our Defensive Driving course is TDLR-approved and accepted by all Texas courts for ticket dismissal and by most insurance companies for a discount. You'll receive your certificate digitally upon completion. The course costs $25 and can be completed fully online.
Start defensive driving →Absolutely. Our 6-hour Adult Driver's Education course is designed for first-time adult drivers. It's fully online, includes the DPS written exam, and starts at $23.95. Upon completion you'll receive a certificate to present at the DPS to get your license.
View adult driver's ed →Step 1: Complete our 6-hour online course and receive your DE-964 learner's certificate. Step 2: Take your DE-964 to DPS to get your learner's permit. Step 3: Within 6 months, complete 18 more hours online to receive your DE-964 driver's education certificate. Once your learner's permit is issued, begin your behind-the-wheel training — 7 hours of observation, 7 hours with an instructor, and 30 hours of parent-supervised driving. Instructor-led: train with Drive Safe or transfer to another school. Parent-taught: your parent completes the training with you using our program.
